UAW Local 788 was chartered May 17, 1957. Walter P. Reuther is one of the original signatures on the Charter. Most of the employees transferred from the Baltimore, MD plant and was the Glenn L. Martin Company at that time. Local 788 UAW was recognized as the sole bargaining agent for the Orlando plant in 1957 by card check. Local Union No.788 UAW Building Corporation, Inc. was chartered on October 18th 1961 so that members could hold property in the state of Florida. The Union Hall was dedicated on January 1, 1963, and is still located in the same building at 1825 W. Oakridge RD., Orlando, Florida.
